Heeyy guys,
Woke up today feeling like martha stewart,I need some organisation in my life. The thing about organising though is creating that storage room for stuff you've successfully cleared out so,I decided to make these beautiful baskets from, you guessed it!! Paper, tthe baskets would be a lovely home decor item when placed in the right spot. Needed to clear out my drawers too and thought the baskets would be great in keeping my make up which were scattered around.
So first thing I did was to cut out the shape I wanted to make my basket
Make sure to cut two of these, same size.
Best to use an old carton or any other cut-able flat surface.
Cut the carton with a razor blade to the desired shape, other materials we'll use include, news paper sheets and white paper sheets, glue,a pair of scissors and a stapler.
Next stage includes cutting paper sheets into rectangles
This is followed by rolling up the sheets into straws and putting glue at the upper right angle so as to seal the straw.
Roll into as many as 34 straws
Flatten the rolled up straws using your hands or a heavy object. I used this 1.5 liter bottle with water in it. Put straws aside.
Next, take the 2 flat surfaces and smear glue in the pattern as seen in the picture below
Start placing straws on the glued areas
Smear more glue on the piece
Put second sphere on the first and press down with a heavy object. I used my mum's grinding stone.
Leave to dry for 30minutes.after which we start to weave.
Tuck loose ends in when you are satisfied with the height of your basket.
And... voila!!
