How have you been? Last week was crazy, have been real busy. I know I've been away for a while now,totally beyond my control,so the thing is I'm gonna be not quite stable for the next few weeks and what I intend to do is, to get many self explanatory DIY tips for you to try at home so please. Enjoy. This first tip is on how to make a cool lamp from things you can gather around the house. I know the average naija woman doesn't care for lamps in her house, as long as NEPA gives us light, we're cool but, wouldn't it be better to up your game and make your house look a lot better, have your neighbours asking questons like "ahh, it's fine o, abeg how much. You can even make it for a fee. So there, It can serve both as a lamp and as a nice decorative piece.
- Materials you will need are...
- A glass jar, better substitute in my opinion are acrylic jars(stronger,lighter,durable, easier to work on and cheaper than glass)
- Glue or gum,better to use glue biko
- Plastic spoons(white plastic teaspoons),
- An electric bulb hanging lamp,
- A measuring tape,
- A screwdriver to pierce the top of the lid
Assemble as many as 100 spoons( they cost 100naira for 40pcs so let's say 250naira for,cut off their handles.
Measure the width of the rim of the jar with a tape, after this start glueing the hollow part of spoons together by applying glue to the insides till you get the width of the rim. Set this aside.
Start from the bottom of the jar and apply some glue to the bottom rim.start placing the spoons on the glue ring.
THe next step is to layer the spoon heads by applying glue to the hollow of the spoons till you arrive at the top,make sure the stem or stalk is covered by the next layer of spoon, then gently place the first set of glued spoon heads on the rim.
The lid of the jar should be pierced so as to allow so the wire of the lamp can be passed through and the bulb of the lamp placed inside.
This will be great for the bedroom as you don't really need extremely bright light in there,great for the sitting room too,out of reach of the children or on an invisible shelf,either way,you'll love it.
