When it comes to fragrances, I can say I've been around the block. From the days of drummer, Glade, febreeze, and one of my favorite brands Odorvanish.,In lavender...ahh, good times. I tie a lot to fragrances, memories, mood, weather, loved ones, their homes etc. They're great, I mean, they smell wonderful.
Whether you like it or not your home has a signature scent that you might not even be aware of, mostly noticeable by visitors and that is the scent or smell they will remember you with. Have you ever been to a household and you could almost guess where the inhabitants were from? Or do you have that special person that even if they are thousands of miles away, you can just take a whiff of their perfume and the memories start rushing back? nice isn't it. Its the same with fragrances, you want to be remembered with something pleasant and nice, not dog smell or pee smell(yep, happens) or smell of your favorite soup.
The idea is to make fragrances last long enough so you won't keep applying every hour, hard to do especially if you spent a lot to purchase. There are alternatives you're missing out on though. Natural, cheaper, safer alternatives!! Which you can make in a matter of minutes all by yourself.
First gather these materials
A small jar
small stove,electric or gas,
water
Natural ingredients which I'll list as we proceed
Plant extracts

The first simple method I will list here is really cheap. All you have to do is have a hot cathode bulb, that's the bulb that most of us have in our homes, not the energy saving white light bulbs.
what you'll need in this case is
Plant extract or flavouring e.g vanilla extract.
procedure.
Put a drop of vanilla on your hot-cathode bulb especially when it is on and leave to do its magic.
your room will smell like vanilla in no time

Here's another method you might like.
Put 2 cups of water in some pot or saucepan and add 2 tablespoons of baking soda. Once this boils, begin to add the following ingredients.
1.Extracts used in cooking and baking such as vanilla extract, coconut, maple, banana strawberry and almonds or any other you like.
2.fresh lemon, oranges and lime or their dried peels(you can get the dried peels by sun-drying)
3. Spices such as cinnamon sticks, ginger, allspice, nutmeg, cloves
4.combination of 2 lemons and 1 tablespoon of vanilla extract
5. Combination of 2 oranges, 2 tablespoons of vanilla extract and 2 cinnamon sticks.
Other tips include the following
Place a small sprinkling of ground cinnamon or ground clove on an electric stove burner and turn on the heat to
the very lowest setting possible.
Preheat oven to 350 degrees F. Use a small piece of tinfoil (wrapping sheet), turn up the edges and pour a teaspoon of vanilla on
top and place the foil in the oven. Turn off oven and prop the door open a bit.
Place 1 to 2 teaspoons vanilla or vanilla extract in small cups or bowls around the home.
Mix small amounts of lemon juice or vinegar and baking soda together and place in small cups or bowls around the home.
To abolish cooking odors, simmer 1 tablespoon vinegar with one cup of water in a small pan.
