I'm not much of a crowd person but this event was different, I felt at home, comfortable and willing to open up!
That's me in red...with the wide grin...cos I'm always cheerful and smiling...:p
Tech meets her Enterprise is the brain child of founder, Chioma Chuka (who I had been following on twitter and instargam all this while-who knew), and is all about using Technology as a tool to enhance businesses run by women.
First speaker was Chioma who welcomed us warmly and told us what was lined up for the day. What caught my attention was her hair, she had long plaited hair. Her pic on social media shows she had a low cut,had to ask her when I finally got to talk to her afterwards!
Chioma
Next up was Mr Tony oyobo who's one of the directors at the Nigeria Communications Commission, he broadened our minds and let us know that technology has surpassed other fields in demand as the top 4 firms in the world are Tech firms I.e Apple,Google, Facebook and.... This made it clear to me that no matter what you do,whatever it is you're into, technology could take you from where you are to a whole new level completely!
Next speaker was Mrs titilayo ojo who glamorised Agriculture, told us the impact tech has had and let us know how we could participate and chip in...hmm
Titi
We had young ladies running Non governmental Organization's and aid organisations come up and enlighten us on how tech has played a significant role, ergo widening outreach which is the end goal in my opinion.
Samira sanusi who is has been cured of Sickle cell and now runs SCAF, (sickle cell Awareness Foundation) spoke to us about the role Tech has played in her outreach.
Safiya Hassan who runs the Stand To End Rape Foundation also told us what she does and how tech has helped her NGO to increase awareness thereby achieving her goal of ending rape and sexual Harasment.
We also had this other lady (can't remember her name) who took it upon herself to educate and empower girls in the north on how to use the computer, smartphones, tablets, modern day technology basically, by teaching them how to make money from learning skills online.
We had representatives from Google, Moyinoluwa who schooled in OAU ife (bet you thought I was gonna say Stanford or harvard :p).
Moyinoluwa
Also present was Chioma Uzo Kalu from Andela, her presentation struck me the most and I had so much fun listening to her, kinda resonated with what she was saying and could relate!!
Chioma
We had a lot of questions from the audience, including yours truly,
Anthonia
In all, it was an interactive session which was worth attending as it opened my mind to a lot and I also networked..which was my initial intention anyway, met amazing women and a fellow beader who was doing soo well. Was so exciting!
What I'm taking home from this session is the hunger for more..more in terms of knowledge, the need to always be better, constant learning and amazing ways to inculcate all these into making Glitz Accessories a global brand real soon *fingers crossed*
See me fully repping Glitz Accessories.. :)
